Mission. The mission of AFJROTC is to "develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community."
Goals. In broad terms, the goals of this program are to instill values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment in high school students. Chapter 1 of the AFJROTC Operational Supplement requires a minimum of six organizational goals that support the above stated mission of which two will be related to to the cadet corps itself, two will be related to the school, and two will be related to the local community. To this end, we have created the following unit level goals for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Overall corps grade point average (GPA) in all classes for academic year 2024 will be a 3.2 (numerical 85) on April 1, 2024.
90 percent of the cadets will pass all of their classes at the end of Fall semester 2023 and continue that level of success during the Spring semester through April 1, 2024.
Retain 75 percent of first-year students and recruit at least 50 new cadets into the corps for the Fall of 2024 as best known by April 1, 2024.
At least 95 percent of cadets will participate in at least one leadership development requirement (LDR) activity by April 1, 2024.
The corps will have an average of at least 25 community service hours per cadet by April 1, 2024.
Improve corps marketing efforts in the community to land at least five corps sponsors by April 1, 2024.
Objectives. The objectives of the AFJROTC program are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline and to provide instruction in air and space fundamentals. Through these objectives, cadets will:
Have an appreciation of the basic elements and requirements for national security.
Respect and understand the need for a constituted authority in a democratic society.
Understand their personal obligation to contribute toward national security.
Gain the skills of orderliness, precision, and self-discipline.
Develop strong morals, self-reliance, leadership, and communication skills.
Understand financial planning and the skills required for a proper job search.
Graduate high school and pursue a college education or vocational training.
Develop social skills and adhere to the Cadet Code of Conduct.
