Although the current (June 2023) version of AFJROTCI 36-2010, found here, does not highlight what is required to earn an "Exceeds Standards" rating on our unit evaluation, we defer to the previous (May 2018) version which told us that there are two criteria we must meet in order to receive an overall "Exceeds Standards" on our unit evaluation. First, we must have at least four of the six sections (from Sections II through VII) be "Exceeds Standards" of which one, Section VI Cadet Operations, must be an "Exceeds Standards" section. Second, no section can be rated as something below "Meets Standards."
The previous version of AFJROTCI 36-2010 also spoke to how a unit can score an "Exceeds Standards" on any individual section of the unit assessment checklist. For Sections II through VI, to receive an "Exceeds Standards" the unit must have at least two line items be scored as an "Exceeds Standards" and no individual line item within the section can be scored as something less than "Meets Standards." For Section VII, to receive an "Exceeds Standards" the unit must have at least three line items be scored as "Exceeds Standards" and no individual line item within the section can be scored as something less than "Meets Standards."
Our goal is to obtain an intimate understanding of this entire unit assessment checklist, to know how we would grade ourselves for every line item within each section, and to game out how we will earn "Exceeds Standards" marks in as many areas as possible so as to earn at least four sectional "Exceeds Standards" so we can earn an overall "Exceeds Standards" during our unit evaluation, or UE.
